Bay West Receives Governor’s Safety Award for Second Year in a Row
For the second consecutive year and the third time this decade, Bay West has been recognized by the Minnesota Safety Council as a Governor’s Safety Award winner for excellence in workplace safety and health.
Our company takes great pride in this particular achievement, not only because safety is a core value driving Bay West’s ability to deliver customer-focused solutions, but because Bay West also maintains a strong safety culture through regular activities that include or feature the topic of safety.
“Employers like Bay West know that safety isn’t automatic,” said Paul Aasen, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “It takes attention, dedication, and continuous effort to protect their employees.”
The Governor’s Safety Awards luncheon is part of the 82nd Minnesota Safety & Health Conference, coordinated by the Minnesota Safety Council. The conference is the oldest and largest gathering of workplace safety and health professionals in the region. The Minnesota Safety Council, founded in 1928, is a nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Minnesota by preventing unintentional injuries (accidents).
After receiving the award, Dave Anderson, CEO of Bay West, had this to say about the recognition:
“Safety is a core value at Bay West. We are extremely proud of our safety record, which our team earns every day. We know that we can’t be complacent when it comes to safety, though. We seek continual improvement in our safety planning and performance and work hard to keep our teammates and clients safe. The Governor’s Safety Award is a very nice acknowledgement of our emphasis on safety, and we are grateful to the Governor and the Minnesota Safety Council for the recognition.”
Jamison Harrell-Latham, Corp Health & Safety Manager of Bay West, believes that the source of the company’s success starts at the top:
“Over the past two years, we have continued to build a strong safety awareness culture that fosters open communication regarding hazard recognition. It takes the dedication and support from top management in spearheading the effort for our company to excel at maintaining our culture.”
Regarding the company’s current streak of Governor’s Safety Award wins, Harrell-Latham had this to add: “Continuous improvement of our safety processes is something we take great pride in, and [it is] why our leadership supports key initiatives to reduce risk. We look forward to building on our successes and creating new approaches to engage our employees on zero-injury execution, now and in the future.”
Clearly, Bay West has every intention of seeing our run of Governor’s Safety Award wins continue well beyond two years.
